One of my favorite spots in the East Village, Back Forty, has now gone west in SoHo. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to this farm-to-table restaurant and practically had everything on the menu. If you haven’t gone, it’s definitely a spot you need to go to… like now.
But before you do check out what the family (5 and a baby) ordered for a night out and note that Back Forty East and West have slightly different menus.
A. MUST. HAVE. Green Chili Pork Face Nuggets withTomatillo Jam and Pickled Red Onion
Roasted Florets & Shrimp ~ Pickled Rock Shrimp, Puffed Black Rice with Soy Sauce Mayo
Grilled Kale & Escarole Salad with Creamy Parmesan Dressing, White Anchovies, Fried Capers and Crispy Chickpeas
Cabot Cheddar Rarebit on Six Point Beer Bread and Fennel Salad
Special of the night was braised short ribs with veggies
ANOTHER MUST. HAVE. Grass Fed Burger with heritage bacon, homemade ketchup, cabot cheddar and….
Rosemary french fries
Spicy Brazilian Fisherman’s Stew squid, mussels, clams, yuca, cilantro
Smoked Catskill Trout with saffron braised artichokes, english peas and dill
MUST.ORDER. Grilled Wild King Salmon with fava bean puree, honshimeji and lemon beurre blanc
Typically we’d order the homemade doughnuts (amazing) but we opted for the Rhubarb Tart with rhubarb rosé sauce, almond cream and vanilla ice cream.
Back Forty West is located at 70 Prince Street at Crosby Street, New York, New York. For reservations call (212) 219-8570.
